Meet the StutterTalk "B Team"

During the 2010 National Stuttering Association annual conference, Caryn, Joel and Roisin, good friends of StutterTalk, co-hosted several StutterTalk episodes. Beginning in September 2010 the B Team began hosting one show of stuttering goodness a month at StutterTalk.

CARYN HERRING, MS CF-SLP is a "B Team" co-host, a person who stutters and a speech-language pathologist. She graduated from Purdue University with a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in 2011. While there, she was a research assistant studying stuttering and other communication disorders. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Pittsburgh in 2005, graduating summa cum laude. Currently, Caryn works at the Our Time Theatre Company, an artistic home for kids who stutter, as a Speech-Language Pathologist and the development/programming associate. Caryn is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, the National Stuttering Association, and Friends-The Association For Young People Who Stutter. She has also presented at the National Stuttering Association’s annual conferences, the Friends annual conferences, the Pennsylvania’s Speech-Language and Hearing Association’s annual conference, the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Purdue University, and Long Island University. Caryn has co-hosted the Stutter Talk “B-Team” since July, 2010 and was also featured on the MTV documentary, “True Life – I Stutter.”  Caryn previously led National Stuttering Association local chapters in Indiana and Pittsburgh and is currently chapter co-leader of the Brooklyn National Stuttering Association Chapter

JOEL KORTE is a person who stutters and attends a masters program for Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Minnesota on a part-time basis. He attained his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN in 2007.  He currently works as a design engineer for ZVEX Effects, a highly regarded guitar effects pedal company, and is a musician in a Minneapolis based band, Ghost Towns of the West.

ROISIN MCMANUS is a person who stutters. She is currently chapter co-leader of the Brooklyn National Stuttering Association Chapter (the Oliver Bloodstein Chapter) at Brooklyn College and has enjoyed becoming more involved in the stuttering community over the past 3 years. Roisin works as a Registered Nurse at NYU Langone Medical Center in Manhattan. She also enjoys doing yoga and being an undisciplined vegan.
