Noel Ahedo, R.N. joins Peter Reitzes to discuss facing stuttering and other challenges as a surgical nurse. Noel shares that he is taking 6 weeks off from work to focus on stuttering and related issues because he feels he may be unable to safely do his job. Mr. Ahedo discusses a positive conversation he had just yesterday with his employer on this matter and on possible workplace accommodations. Noel reads from his article How Vigorous Exercise Fights Depression and Anxiety: A Personal Story and discusses how exercise has benefited him greatly.

Noel shares that in addition to being a person who stutters, he has also been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder and Bipolar Disorder and has worked with three psychiatrists and a psychologist.

NOEL AHEDO is a Registered Nurse First Assistant in Surgery who specializes in Robotic Surgery. Mr. Ahedo was Valedictorian of his nursing class in 2007 and has been in the medical field for 18 years, all of that time in Surgery. Noel began his career as a housekeeper, became a Surgical Technologist, went back to school for his Registered Nurse First Assistant Certification.
