Rick Arenas Ph.D. is an associate professor at the University of New Mexico in the department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. He received a bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. all from the University of Iowa. His primary area of research is developmental stuttering. In his early career he focused on the neurobiological mechanisms involved in the variability of stuttering across contexts. Recently his research has transitioned toward the way people relate to their stuttering and how it plays a role in their personal narrative. Using qualitative methods, he is investigating how people who stutter change their thoughts and beliefs to live harmoniously with stuttering.

Elias Apreko helped set up the Ghana Stammering Association in 2013 to meet the needs of persons who stammer (stutter) in Ghana. He currently works as the president of the GSA. Elias is passionate about giving people who stutter a voice and helping them live successful lives in spite of their stutter.
Hanan Hurwitz joins Chaya Goldstein to discuss Israel’s strong stuttering support network and the negative use of the term stuttering in politics to wrongly suggest that a candidate is weak and ineffectual. Mr. Hurwitz explained the importance of speaking to the media, teachers, speech-language pathologists, and the general public about Israel to educate and clarify misperceptions.

Reuben Schuff is an author and roving host for StutterTalk. By profession and passion he is an aerospace engineer, and also, a traveler, a juggler, a Toastmaster, and a person who stutters. He is a workshop presenter for the National Stuttering Association annual conference and is the co-founder of the Raleigh Teens Who Stutter (TWST) chapter of the NSA. Reuben also facilitates and presents with FRIENDS: the National Organization for Young People who Stutter. Reuben is author of the chapter Fluency: My Untrustworthy Friend in the StutterTalk book: Stuttering: Inspiring Stories and Professional Wisdom.
Christopher Constantino is a person who stutters, a speech-language pathologist and earned his Phd in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Memphis in 2018.
Robert Dellinger, M.S., CCC-SLP is a school-based speech-language pathologist in Raleigh, N.C., and a person who stutters. He works in an elementary school and consults with colleagues in complicated fluency disorders cases at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Rob is an active member of the National Stuttering Association chapter in Raleigh and contributes to the local Teens Who Stutter (TWST) group.
Mollie Davisjoins Chaya Goldstein to discuss speaking up as a person who stutters under very challenging circumstances.
Mollie Davis is an 18 year old college freshman from Maryland currently studying at Hollins University in Virginia. She is studying to be a journalist and is heavily involved in gun violence prevention activism. She also enjoys theatre, sitcoms, and courtroom dramas.
Chaya Goldstein, M.A. CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist who stutters. She works at the American Institute for Stuttering (AIS) in New York City and teaches graduate courses in Fluency Disorders. She co-leads the National Stuttering Association Adult Manhattan chapterand coordinates the FRIENDS “Stepping Up” Mentorship program for children and teens who stutter. She’s cares deeply about stuttering advocacy, education, and empowerment and is committed to educating SLPs, educators and the public.
